Website Management

There are currently two models for managing websites in the Faculty. One is via a combination of Dreamweaver and Contribute and the other is using the University's adopted content managment system, T4 Site Manager. Support for both these models is available through the web team. The University has a site licence for Dreamweaver and Contribute while T4 is available directly through your browser. More information about current versions of Dreamweaver and Contribute can be found on the IT Services website Applications Software page.

A new set of styles and templates has been developed by the central Web Project for School websites, both for Dreamweaver/Contribute sites and those in T4. These styles and templates are based on the new corporate visual identity and are designed to make the management of School websites more efficient, more consistent and better able to be supported. The new styles and templates for Dreamweaver/Contribute have been used for the new Law site, due to be launched in October, and other schools are now starting to develop their new sites in whichever website management model they are using. The Humanities ICT Office site itself has adopted the new template style.

The Web Project has developed a handbook to support the use of the new templates. Guidance will also be provided at Faculty level. Further information on the development process and the templates can be found on the Web Project Templates page. You can also access the handbook from this page.

All university websites should now be on the manchester.ac.uk domain. Information about moving from legacy sites (man.ac.uk for example) to the manchester.ac.uk domain can be found on the Web Project website Legacy Sites page. Content must be moved from legacy websites by 31 December 2006.
