Learning Resources

alternative text
New online resources available from IT Services including downloadable PDFs and interactive online materials for ECDL and Microsoft products.

The ICT Office provides support in a wide range of applications. See the full version of the Service Catalogue for further details of which applications and the levels of support we can provide.

All the resources we have available (which includes links to additional support available from our colleagues in other areas of the University) are grouped in the eight categories on the navigation on the left. You may also find our A-Z useful in locating the resources you need.

As part of our support we provide a variety of learning resources and learning support*.

Show-Me Videos Play Icon

We are currently developing a number of show-me videos. We have substantial video resources in particular for Managing Long Documents in Word for example. In addition we are developing a range of online e-learning workshops for academics new to e-learning based around using video demonstrations.

These are simulations which guide you through specific features or activities in different programs and applications. They will often have short quizzes at the end of the demonstrations where you can (privately!) test your own knowledge. You will need Flash Player (version 6 or above) to view these files. If you do not have this you can download it from the Adobe website.

Handouts and Guides PDF

You will find that the majority of the resources are handouts or guides that have been made available as Adobe PDFs. You will need the free Acrobat Reader to view/print these files.
If you do not have Acrobat Reader you can download it from the Adobe website.

Sample files exe

Some handouts will have associated sample files. These are available as self extracting files. To access the files you willl need to click on the link and click on Run. Click on Run again and then Start. The file(s) should automatically download to a folder called Work on your C drive.

We also link to resources available from other parts of the University where these are appropriate for staff and/or students in the Faculty of Humanities.

Use the links on the left to access resources by subject area.

* Many thanks to Dan Rigby and Dermott Nuttall who have made available resources developed in the School of Social Sciences to the whole Faculty.
